Flower Fairies by Cicely Mary Barker - Pansy Fairy

Pansy and Petunia,
Periwinkle, Pink-
How to choose the best of them,
Leaving out the rest of them,
That is hard, I think.

Poppy with its pepper-pots,
Polyanthus, Pea-
Though I wouldn't slight the rest,
Isn't Pansy quite the best,
Quite the best for P?

Black and brown and velvety,
Purple, yellow, red;
Loved by people big and small,
All who plant and dig at all
In a garden bed.

Pansies range in color like a rainbow. They bloom from May to September and grow wild in some regions of North American and their native Europe, Asia and North Africa.  The above ground parts, flowers and leaves, are used medicinally and can be added to salads and used to decorate cakes, candies and other foods.

Used medicinally throughout the ages, modern herbalists recommend pansy in topical form for skin disorders such as eczema, cradle cap, acne, and itching.
